Tiny-Tot Gymnastics ( 1½ years to 2½ years )
Tiny Tots is the newest addition to Excel’s parent-child classes. This class is designed to develop strength and awareness in an activity based atmosphere. The class also encourages exciting activities that involve color, number, shape, and letter recognition. The class also boasts musical warm ups and special equipment.
Parent-Tot Gymnastics ( 2½ years to 3 ½ years )
Just like the Tiny Tot class, the main focus of Parent Tot is to strengthen and develop body awareness through games and fun activites. In this class the kids are now introduced to adapted full size equipment and are encouraged to improve their independent skills. While games are sometimes a part of this class, it starts to move the kids more along the Jr. Rec (Pre-School & Kindergym) circuits to get them ready for the next level. Another excellent class to build on color, number, shape, and letter recognition at their young ages all while having fun in the gym. This class is awesome for allowing your kids to work out, have fun, and learn all with you right by their side.
Pre-School Gymnastics ( 3½ years to 5 years )
Pre-School is the first class that the kids get to go into the gym all by themselves! This class is where the kids get to hone their own abilities on stations that touch all major aspects of the gym. Through obstacle courses and fun props, the kids learn to balance their bodies up on the beams, swing on the bars, and even show off their muscles on the rings. Pre-School is a fun class to get the kids used to being on their own and learning terminology of the different events all while strengthening their core body as well as building confidence for the upcoming levels.
KinderGym Gymnastics ( 5 years to 6 years )
Kindergym is the last of the Jr. Rec programs that emphasize using all equipment co-ed style. In this class the kids are now focused on becoming skill based on the events to prepare them for the leap into the Beginner program. This class emphasizes basic skills in a circuit based environment similar to Pre-School but this time around they will have more exposure to the full sized equipment and with tougher skills. Kindergym kids are placed into a fun atmosphere while being challenged with different instructions to mature their listening and learning skills. This class is a great preparation for the beginner classes and will build off of skills from the other levels or even build skills from scratch to help build a good foundation for gymnastics.
Girls/Boys Beginner Gymnastics ( 6 years old and up )
Our Beginner program here at Excel is a great program to start or continue gymnastics from the Jr. Rec programs. This level now separates the boys and girls and has each gender focus on their specific events. For example, boys will focus on their six events (Floor, Horse, Rings, Vault, P-bars, High bar) and girls will focus on their four (Bars, Beam, Vault, Floor) as well as both still using trampolines and pit. Kids are now faced with challenges that involve more physical awareness and strength, all while getting stronger and more flexible. The beginner level is great to build confidence in gymnastics and in themselves as athletes.
Girls/Boys Advanced Gymnastics
( 6 years old and up – Must be skill tested )
In this advanced class, boys and girls will perfect those basic skills, as well as learning more difficult skills and putting tricks together. The Advanced Beginner program also allows the kids to be in the gym for 1.5 hours. Through this level the kids start to really notice the abilities they have and become increasingly confident in the basics as well as having the boldness to try newer, more difficult tricks.
Girls/Boys Intermediate Gymnastics
( 8 years old and up – Must be skill tested )
The Intermediate classes are the next step in the program to gearing the kids skills towards routine-like workouts. This level the children are expected to listen and follow instructions well due to the combinations and technique of the higher level tricks.
Advanced Intermediate Girls
(9 years old and up – Must be skill tested)
Advanced Intermediate Girls is the final stage of our rec program here at Excel. This is a very routine and skill driven class that focuses on individual skills and talents as opposed to a general field in the earlier classes. This level allows the girls to work to their fullest potential with combinations and routines.
Beginner Tumbling (6 years old and up)
A great foundation tumbling class that focuses mainly on the core aspects of the floor exercise. The tricks in this class are basic tumbling drills and steps to help build body control and awareness for the higher level tricks like back handsprings and round-off back handsprings. This class is great for the young ones that just need to gain muscle control or even the cheerleaders trying to get their backhandspring.
Advanced Tumbling (8 years old and up)
The Advanced Tumbling class is for the tumblers that have a back handspring on their own. This class is geared towards using the basic skills in a tumbling series. Passes like round-off back handspring and front handspring fronts are some of the more common goals for the kids in this class. The skills don’t stop there, back flips, standing backs and even full twists are some of the skills that can be learned in this class depending on the skilld of the kids. This class is good for getting series passes of multiple tricks or simply perfecting that back handspring.
Home School Boys/Girls (6 years old and up)
The home school program is a class to get the boys and girls that aren’t in schools into a gym and working out. This class meets the requirements of a physical education class and does it with gymnastics. This class is great to get your kids the exercise they need and on a level that can teach them flexibility and strength in ways that most sports can’t. These classes are offered at a discounted price to accommodate the home school families daytime educational curriculum.
